November dragonfly!

So I saw a butterfly in my yard the other day. A bit unusual for late fall in Michigan but it was an unseasonably warm and sunny November day.

TODAY on the other hand I'm driving 50 mph down the road (and yes, the speed limit was 50 mph-ish) with the windows up and the sun roof closed and from out of nowhere this thing flew at my face! It finally landed on the dashboard and turned out to be a dragonfly.
.
My first thought was to take a picture. My second thought was to watch the traffic. Before a third thought could happen it flew into my face again.

After it landed on the A-pillar (automotive lingo) for a rest I got a quick cell phone pic before letting it out the window into the chilly day. At least I think it went out the window into the chilly day!

I wonder if any of them survive over the winter or if the cold kills them all and only the eggs survive.

A collection of my thoughts, rants and pictures since November 22, 2008.

During the first year of my blog it was called "Something to say… everyday." That got just a bit tedious, but what else does someone unemployed have to do. The second year of my blog started out sporadic with a post whenever I got around to it but I felt I needed some kind of order. 2010 brought order when I started "A picture a week… every week" loosely following the Flickr group "52.5 of Twenty Ten." By the end of 2011 I was back in the work force so a daily thing wouldn't have worked anyway. For 2011 I decided to actually JOIN the Flickr group "52 of Twenty Eleven" and go by their rules. It was a success with 52 out of 52 pictures posted! Same goes for "52 of 2012!" Now on to "52 in 2013." OF COURSE I might post witty bits of wisdom here and there outside the photo project from time to time. (BTW: clicking on any pic will either show a larger view or go to the Flickr page of that pic.)
