A bit too friendly

Yesterday while crouching down along a river adjusting shutter speeds and exposure settings in an attempt to learn more about photographing flowing water and bright white snow I wasn't expecting a critter to try to get into my jacket pocket! Too bad for Mr. Squirrel I was out of snacks at the moment. Maybe next time I'll bring lunch.

After posting this I discovered that today was actually "Squirrel Appreciation Day" according to the National Wildlife Federation. Coincidence? Maybe THAT'S what Mr. Squirrel was trying to tell me!

As a rehabilitator whos raised and released squirrels, I always worry that the friendly ones will be harmed by nervous people and hope there'll be some around to offer a treat.

Too bad he isn't yellow...! Had fun at lunch. Wish I wasn't always so distracted by the little guy.

A collection of my thoughts, rants and pictures since November 22, 2008.

During the first year of my blog it was called "Something to say… everyday." That got just a bit tedious, but what else does someone unemployed have to do. The second year of my blog started out sporadic with a post whenever I got around to it but I felt I needed some kind of order. 2010 brought order when I started "A picture a week… every week" loosely following the Flickr group "52.5 of Twenty Ten." By the end of 2011 I was back in the work force so a daily thing wouldn't have worked anyway. For 2011 I decided to actually JOIN the Flickr group "52 of Twenty Eleven" and go by their rules. It was a success with 52 out of 52 pictures posted! Same goes for "52 of 2012!" Now on to "52 in 2013." OF COURSE I might post witty bits of wisdom here and there outside the photo project from time to time. (BTW: clicking on any pic will either show a larger view or go to the Flickr page of that pic.)
