Stony Creek Trails

Temps are back up to almost the 60s - woohoo!
So today called for a hike.
Stony Creek Metropark has some ever so fun bike & hike trails - and there's a way in without charge - heehee.

Fall is in with a lot of yellow but not quite enough red yet.

And then I happened to run across this Banded Woolly Bear Caterpillar. Probably looking for a place to rest for the winter.

My Cranbrook Garden Walk

Today I met up with the RODP MeetUp group at the
Cranbrook Gardens here in Bloomfield Hills, MI.
I found a subject that fit into some of the themes of this summer:
fuzzy and buggy things.

I shall call it Fuzzy Bee Ball.

More things that are fuzzy

The annoying cottonwood fuzzies appeared just in time for me to start on the second coat of house paint. Oh joy oh joy. Their blowing in the breeze made it a bit more interesting... and resulted in a bit more swearing. Just a bit more. A tiny bit. Really, damn it!

The fuzzy continues

The Mount Airy Fothergilla are also fuzzy in the spring.
Full of fuzzy little balls.

More fuzzy things

...fuzzy things from the garden that is!
.
.
As I've been painting I noticed all the fuzzy poppy bulbs getting ready to bloom along the east side of the garage. Interesting looking. I hope I didn't paint over too many of them!

Suddenly it's summer!

Today we jumped from the 50s to the 80s. Typical Michigan weather. A hot sunny summer day... and more to come! All the plants are waking up, the weeds are sprouting and the grass needs mowed. Summer always means more work.

Very
cool.

Many types of fiddleheads are eaten but most contain toxic compounds.
.
Anyone want to come over for dinner and try these ones out?
