Harbinger of spring?
Today while waiting in the Henry Ford clinic (for about 3 hours) I got to watch a flock of robins in the trees outside. More robins than anyone can imagine. The trees still had some berries on them that the robins were having for brunch. Are these the first robins of spring? Or just a bunch of lazy robins that didn't leave this frozen never land and head south?
(Come to find out after a quick google search: Although the appearance of a robin is considered a harbinger of spring, the American Robin actually spends the winter in much of its breeding range. However, because they spend less time in yards and congregate in large flocks during winter, you're much less likely to see them.)
Of course I didn't take my camera with me... I mean who would need a camera on a trip to the clinic... so here's an internet pic...

Sunday's proverb
A Sunday well-spent
brings a week of content.
.
Today was the day of the pre-vacation gathering. Kind of an acclimation of sorts. And then the nap brought on by too much breakfast. Nonetheless a Sunday well-spent.
And then you wonder what kind of wine goes with a Sunday well-spent. Perhaps pinot noir?

Dinner time
...and my zucchini is soggy. Don't you just hate a soggy zucchini? My zucchini wasn't quite as fresh as the ones pictured here. My zucchini wasn't fresh at all. It was pretty much sliced and then fresh frozen and packaged for sale with a stamp "BEST BY 07/2010". Another year and a half and my zucchini will be as fresh (frozen) as it is tonight. After that it starts being not so good. Maybe even soggier? Satisfaction guaranteed or double your purchase price refunded. I wouldn't feel right requesting double my purchase price due to soggy. I assume the soggy was a result of my microwaving abilities. I'll try the stove top method tomorrow night.Yum-O!

Change, where is it?

Hey, it all still feels the same. Where is this change? How long is it going to take for this change? I'm ready and waiting for change!!! What do I have to do to make change happen? So what kind of wine goes with change? I'm not sure yet... but chardonnay goes well with waiting for change.... and boy am I waiting.

Old and cold
Spending time at the university this week has made me feel old. One thing I did discover is they have a need for valet parking. It was such a long walk in the sub-zero windchill. Maybe preferred parking for over 40?

Cheesy goodness
Is the spinach in a bowl of Spinach con Queso really necessary when all we want is the cheese and the fried tortilla chips? Would you like another pound of fried chips? Well yes please and HURRY! All I can think of at the moment is how the french fries would have tasted with the cheese dip poured all over them. Oh and a stomach pump. How much is a personal stomach pump?
(Since my posting I have been informed via email that the spinach is the fiber to counter the effects of the binding cheese... thank you very much. Oh, and being as it is now the next morning I have proof the spinach was in fact useful.)

I was told of the energies better known as angels.
Is a certain one watching over me?

Back to ?
Tomorrow the world (as I have known it) goes back to work. The holidays are over. I guess it's time to start thinking about a job. I just might have to get up early to think about it. Let me think about that first.

The last day of 2008
The year in review:
1. No tropical vacation.
2. 1 new shrub, 10 perennials and 1 herb (and the death of 4 shrubs... sad).
3. A 40% reduction in my retirement funds.
4. 4 different supervisors, 2 organization changes (one that removed me from Jeep and put me on a car platform), 1 round of layoffs, and finally a company wide buyout offer. Goodbye Chrysler.
5. Had 3 different Jeeps: Green 2008 Liberty, Orange 2009 Liberty, and now the black 2009 Patriot.
6. Joined Facebook and took up playing scrabble online.
7. Got a hernia.
8. Began a blog. Why? To spread the word!

Pre-eve day
What to do today? Shop, clean, surf, nap, oh... and party.
What to do tomorrow? Probably the same thing.

Santa's gone for another year
He brought me a used 12 year old snow blower. Gotta love extra-loud power tools. Now I need an amplifier for my iPod.

Xeve day
Unimportant information time:
1. just made the final switch from Yahoo to Google home page
2. have all my gifts to wrap still
3. am sitting in my thermals drinking coffee
4. listening to Christmas music on Yahoo LaunchCast music (which is being sold to CBS in February and will not have a commercial-free option. Wonderful... where's my refund?)
5. wondering where Google Radio is
6. looking online for Jeep Patriot accessories

2b. gifts are wrapped (buy less gifts.... wrap less gifts. I like it.)
7. checked in on the McNair kitties (they were unimpressed as usual)
8. bought the Xmas bottle of scotch
9. lunch... need some lunch I think
10. Christmas Eve festivities soon

Snow day Friday.
Too bad I'm an unemployed non-student or I COULD HAVE had some kind of snow day too. But no. Not for me. I got to dash through the snow in my 4 cylinder Jeep Patriot all the way to Troy and there wasn't any laughing (right away).
