The other Ford's place

As I was planning on posting this in the category "How do I not know about these things?" I wondered into the first garden and then remembered that I HAVE been there.

The Henry Ford Estate, or "Fair Lane". Sitting on the Rouge River this is a modest sized estate in comparison to what I've been visiting.

I once attended a wedding just beyond these garden gates.

When you worked at JTE, you never went to the little restaurant that is in the pool room?...called "The Pool"?

I ate there regularly.

Also, have done wreath making classes here 3X and had my wedding pictures done here.

Alas, it will be closed for restoration for several years...I think they say it will reopen in 2017.

A collection of my thoughts, rants and pictures since November 22, 2008.

During the first year of my blog it was called "Something to say… everyday." That got just a bit tedious, but what else does someone unemployed have to do. The second year of my blog started out sporadic with a post whenever I got around to it but I felt I needed some kind of order. 2010 brought order when I started "A picture a week… every week" loosely following the Flickr group "52.5 of Twenty Ten." By the end of 2011 I was back in the work force so a daily thing wouldn't have worked anyway. For 2011 I decided to actually JOIN the Flickr group "52 of Twenty Eleven" and go by their rules. It was a success with 52 out of 52 pictures posted! Same goes for "52 of 2012!" Now on to "52 in 2013." OF COURSE I might post witty bits of wisdom here and there outside the photo project from time to time. (BTW: clicking on any pic will either show a larger view or go to the Flickr page of that pic.)
