Week 04 of 2012 - Shadow

The sun came out for a moment here in this Michigan winter and while shining through the window the blinds made this abstract shadow on the cove ceiling.

Week 3 of 2012 - My Passion

Had to buy a new frig yesterday. After today's delivery it needed beer.
(Passion for beer. NOT for buying new appliances!)

Week 2 of 2012 - 5 Minutes From My Home

The Detroit Zoological Society is responsible for the care and feeding of more than 1,800 vertebrates and 5,000 invertebrates representing over 270 species.

Week 1 of 2012 - New

Christmas brought me a NEW hobby for 2012 - beer making!

52 Pictures of 2011 Recap

Made it!

Happy New Year!

Successfully took and posted 52 out of 52 pictures for '52 of Twenty Eleven' group with a grand total of 1613 pictures taken and saved to the hard drive for the year. Not sure how many didn't make it to the save folder.

Here is one of my favorite pics of 2011:

Week 52 of 2011 - Looking to the Future

My New Years Photography Resolutions:
- Actually read the photography books I have bought in the past
- Improve my photography (and buy more gear!)
- Do not wait until the last day to take the weekly pic

End of 2011 is soon

'This is Eric's Blog' just changed the Blogger template and the Blogger icon pic. Change is good, right?
As long as it's change we can believe in!

Week 51 of 2011 - Happy Holidays

There's an app for that, too.
I down loaded my Christmas tree to my iPhone for this year.

Just not into it at all this year.

Happy Holidays to all that are into it!
(No, that's not my actual tree. Are you kidding me?!)

This is what it is:

Week 50 revealed:

Week 50 of 2011 - What Is It?

It's green and metal and old.
I removed the well known name off the top.

(The U.S. penny is there only to show size.)

Week 49 of 52 - Less Is More (Minimal)

**************************************

Joint third place winner!

Click here to see how it was all possible.

Week 48 of 2011 - Self Portrait

It's me.

Week 47 of 2011 - Waiting

Thanksgiving Day.
On my way to lasagna dinner - save the turkeys!

People waiting for Best Buy to open up.

Week 46 of 2011 - Mainly One Color

Many Oberon during the summer of 2011.

After only (week 45)

Week 45 of 2011 - Processed Image (Before & After)

SO many things you can do with post processing software. I snapped a boring shot of the bamboo in the corner of my dining room and made it fantastic! If I do say so myself.

Garden gone.

Nothing left but the herbs and the strawberries.
How many days until spring?

Week 44 of 2011 - Food

The last of the food from the garden.

Week 43 of 2011 - Macro

Mmm... wine.

Week 42 of 2011 - Words

A little graffiti in my hood. Some sort of suburban Banksy.

The making of "abstract canna leaf with shadows"

Maybe I shouldn't give away my secrets?

Week 41 of 2011 - Abstract

What could it be?

Week 40 of 2011 - Landscape

Rules: only minor human intrusion into the scene will be accepted.

There's a boat house at the shoreline to the right of center so that's my minor human intrusion.

This same landscape was posted 2 years ago as
"More autumn color."

Week 39 of 2011 - Book or Movie

I got more use out of last week's pumpkin for this week's theme! Thank-you Trader Joe! Below is the inspiration.

Week 38 of 2011 - Low Key

It's officially autumn here in the northern hemisphere.

Low key creating a chiaroscuro effect characterized by strong contrasts between light and dark,

usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition.

Remember high key?

Week 37 of 2011 - Street Photography

Putting up the Christmas lights JUST a bit early.

Week 36 of 2011 - Bokeh (the blur)

A busy bee.

Week 35 of 2011 - Stairs

These are the stairs that lead to week 24.

Week 34 of 2011 - Old and New

Old and new lawn edgers. Did my father really edge with this thing? Do I really edge with the modern thing? (It's been on my to-do list now for a couple of years.)

Week 33 of 2011 - Geometry

Spheres in the garden.

Week 32 of 2011 - Against The Light

Garden Gone Wild

You may remember More Garden Less Grass Part 1 & Part 2.

This I will title "WHAT WAS I THINKING?"

Week 31 of 2011 - Seeing Double

Leftovers for lunch.

Week 30 of 2011 - Walking Empty Streets

What is usually a very busy corner in my town is empty in the wee hours of the morning. And by wee hours I mean just before 8 a.m. which is pretty wee for me.

Week 29 of 2011 - Music To My Ears

Vinyl.
This is how my ears heard music when I was young(er).

These were dug out of the far depths of the basement for the pic of the week. They haven’t been moved from that spot since I moved in here over 12 years ago and I have no idea when the last time any of them were actually played. Back they go!

Week 28 of 2011 - Black & White

A face on an urn.

Dragonfly 2011

Dragonfly spotted last week on afternoon hike at Stony Creek Metropark. SURE I should have been at work BUT everyone gets a lunch break...    right?

You may rememeber "Fire Breath" and "November dragonfly" from 2009. Doesn't look like a dragonfly was posted during the summer of 2010. Hmmm.....

Week 27 of 2011 - Things that look like a letter of the Alphabet

A tree in the shape of a V that I pass on on my bike rides through a local cemetery.

POP of Colour 2

Portrait view of Parking Deck 5 colour pop.

Week 26 of 2011 - A POP of Colour

Looking for colour pops I stumbled upon Parking Deck 5 in Birmingham, MI.

Week 25 of 2011 - Windows or Doors

Flowers in the mausoleum window.

Roseland Park Cemetery. Berkley Michigan.

Eve's feet

Week 24 of 2011 - Emotion

Many emotions in a work of art.

Emotion of the artist.

Emotion of the artist’s subject.

Emotion of the subject.

Shown here is a work by Mario Korbel from 1924.

Cranbrook Gardens, Bloomfield Hills, MI.

Week 23 of 2011 - Long Exposure

A nighttime view of the garden.

I lit up some tiki torches in the garden this evening to summon the veggie ghost.
